Attention Realtors and Lenders USDA Home Buyers NEED YOUR HELP
USDA Home Buyers and Home Sellers NEED YOUR HELP NOW!
Save the USDA Home Loan
Congress returns to Washington next week and will be in session only a few weeks before adjourning for the campaign. Within this short time, we need to press our Representatives and Senators to act on legislation to extend eligibility for rural communities to access USDA Rural Housing programs.
That’s why on Monday, September 10th, the National Rural Housing Coalition is holding a National Call-In Day to urge Congress to protect rural communities by including the “rural” definition issue on the FY13 Continuing Resolution or finding another way to get this done!
You can help us raise the profile of this critical issue by calling your Senators and Representatives:
In the Senate
On Monday, please ask your Senators to reach out to the Banking Committee and the Appropriations Committee to persuade them to include a 1-year extension of current law in the FY13 CR or in a stand-alone bill.
Earlier this year, the Senate passed similar rural definition language in their Farm Bill and the FY13 Agriculture Appropriations bill. The Farm Bill included a ten-year extension of the ‘grandfather’ clause and raised the population limit for these communities to 35,000. And, the Appropriations bill included a one-year extension for all communities.
In the House
On Monday, please call your Representatives! If they haven’t signed onto Rep. Fortenberry’s Letter to House Leadership, it’s not too late! And, if they have, thank them for their support and ask them to raise the issue directly with Rep. Boehner!
- Not sure who is your Representative? Dial the House switchboard number (202-224-3121), or look up his/her phone number on the House website.

So far, 89 Represenatives have signed on, but we need more!
